PA A personal assistant usually works one-to-one for a senior staff member in a business. Their duties will cover a wide range of administrative duties from writing emails, answering the telephone, scheduling meetings, taking minutes in meetings, arranging travel, visas and hotels and being a general office support to their manager. Personal Assistants can be purely business focused or sometimes take on private personal tasks for the client, too.
Private Household PA To ensure the smooth running of the administrative tasks of the household from bill paying, organising and booking trips, dealing with email communication, managing the affairs of the entire family including the children and potentially taking on house management of other staff and trades people. Clients will be from an office PA background or have previous household PA experience. Travelling PA Suitable for business clients who have numerous business activities worldwide and need trustworthy, intelligent English support. The travelling PA will have either traditional PA skills or will be a graduate from a top University with business experience and/or transferable skills. The PA will be a business assistant and can also be involved in organising the personal life of the employer, too. With the expectation of a 24-7 nature and intense worldwide travel the salary of the travelling PA will be higher than a household PA or general business PA.
House Manager A position which encompasses some of the duties of a private household PA role with the main focus being the management and running of small to large estates including dealing with contractors and renovations of properties either in one location or worldwide. At the same time House Managers will recruit, manage, train and delegate to household staff, deal with any issues relating to the property vis-a-vissecurity and maintenance, manage household budgets and supplies and, if no private PA is employed, take on some of the traditional household PA duties as set out above. Candidates for these positions may come from a PA, training or service industry background.
